Another long-time cubase user here bored of Steinberg's attitude.Р”В¬onsidering the ancestry of the developers, S1 really does seem to have what it takes to be the first real cubase-killer. This is a very welcome piece of software.

heh Presonus will get a lot of respect if they keep up with progress reports and admitting that there is an unexpected delay, if it happens, rather than just have us wait fingers in mouth biting our fingernails for an update that, like Logic, came with a new version instead of a bug fix update. we're all little girls emotionally (c'mon admit y'all) and we need communication. It DOES show respect for the user and I would rather have Presonus front end keep us in the loop and miss a date than no info at all and even say, 'Yeah, I know we are past the deadline but here is the reason.'. It takes balls to divulge internal projections this is the kind of attitude that goes a long way with me. Above all it shows respect to the users, and that's worth a heck of a lot.Right on the money. Double edged sword, but I for one am really glad to hear a developer with the confidence to actually give their users something solid to go on. One of the potential drawbacks to that is, if the devs go over-deadline, as can easily happen, Jon might bear the wrath of the userbase, who are expecting it to come *exactly* then. It's really great to hear a concrete update release projection. All I need is a FIREPOD and a home theatre deck.Р”Р„lso, I would like to see PreSonus enter the converter market, because I think your products and reputation are good enough, but you should do it under a different branding, just so people wont think it's low end. Let the freaks spend 10 grand to monitor in Surround. There is no cheaper or better way to monitor Surround than with a FIREPOD. Example, there is no way to exactly draw in a parameter, and there are no crossfade curves (like different kinds of fades.) Why not create something like options for fades? Like:Р”Р„lso, I think the initial starting page is kind of ugly, but that's just preference, but I could deal with seeing surround capability, which I use in Logic all the time, monitoring with a Firepod's 8 Outputs, and it works better than ANY other monitoring device. It' harder to draw in Automation than in Logic, and it's not as exacting, unless I am missing something. Also, I have long thought the converters to be as good as any, and I'm sure there are a bunch of idiots on here that would disagree, but have they ever compared them side to side to Apogees?Р”Р„nyway, I think Studio One is absolutely stunning, but it lacks 2 features that I absolutely love in Logic:Р”РЋ) Crossfade Tool- I have become highly used to doing perfect fades in and out without automation in Logic.Р”Сћ) The Automation- It doesn't seem as accurate. Still have it and still use it for monitoring. I have liked the Presonus Firepod from the beginning and bought one back in 2005.

I don't do much MIDI MAPPING except for drum tracks in TOONTRACK DRUMKIT FROM HELL. I like small features that make my life easier.
